Gel it, Don’t foam it
Edge® Shave Gels lubricate better than foams, which means less irritation when you shave. They also provide added protection if you have to go over an area more than once. Before you begin shaving, leave the gel lathered on your face for a few minutes to help saturate your beard.
Be sure to rinse your razor
Rinse your razor frequently while shaving to help prevent razor clogs. After shaving, clean your razor under hot running water and let it air dry. We recommend using a razor with at least two blades.
Fresh blade, short strokes
Use a fresh blade and short shaving strokes to avoid nicking or cutting yourself. Shave WITH the lay of the beard/hair growth. Going against the direction of hair growth can cause irritation and painful, ingrown hairs.
Start with the sides
Shave the sides of your face first, then move on to the more sensitive areas, such as your chin and neck. This will give the hair on the sensitive areas more time to soften.
Do it daily
Try and keep up a daily shaving routine (even when you’re on vacation). Regular shaving has the benefit of removing dead skin, which allows you to show off fresh, healthy skin. A regular shaving routine also helps prevent nicks, cuts and irritation.
Don’t sweat it
Try not to shave immediately after exercising. Exercise makes your pores open up as you sweat, which makes your skin more sensitive. Also, if you’ve been in the ocean or the pool for several hours, wait at least one hour before you shave. Extended exposure to ocean or pool water tends to make your skin plump up, making it more difficult to get a close shave. |
